Are You a Poker Addict?

Are there people who suffer from poker addiction? What are the symptoms of a poker addict? And most importantly, do you have them?

If you answer yes to most of the questions below, then you may be a poker addict, and the trouble is you might not be aware of it, that's why you don't get better.

Have you come to the point that you spend the money allotted for your basic necessities in life for poker? This is characterized by moments in which you can no longer differentiate your money for living from gambling money. You are so addicted to poker that you end up using the money that was saved for your monthly electric bills and food allowances in poker.

Has your homelife reached a depressing level due to your addiction to poker and gambling? You spend most of your time sitting at casinos and playing poker when you should be helping your kids with their assignments or you should be spending quality time with your wife or husband. Your family is rendered clueless as to who you have become, and you in return, do not know them anymore. You forget important occasions such as birthdays, and fail to attend to your kids' school PTA meetings.

Did you ever need to borrow money so you could play another poker game? This just means that not only you've become broke, but you have also been so addicted that you cannot stand up and go away from the poker table, even if you do not have any money anymore. What's worse, you choose to stoop so low and borrow money instead of working for it.

Is your gambler reputation your only reputation? People know you as the gambler, and only as the gambler. You are not their boss, you are not the good family man, or the friendly neighbor anymore. Your just simply the gambler, nothing else.

Were you ever hesitant to use your gambling money for necessary expenses? Imagine that, you're now having second thoughts whether or not to pay the bills, and for what? Just to be able to play poker. Bills are your responsibilities, not poker. There's nothing wrong in playing poker, just do not forget about your duties.

Do you ever experience difficulty in sleeping due to poker or gambling? Instead of giving your body the much needed rest, your mind refuses to retire because of that royal flush you almost got, or that hand that you shouldn't have folded.
