A game of Texas Hold'em usually starts with the dealer shuffling and dealing the cards. The dealer button (i.e. the round disc you see moving from player to player in a clockwise direction) determines who gets to be the dealer as a game of Texas Hold'em poker goes along.
The two players on the left of the dealer place an amount of money into the pot before the dealer deals the cards in Texas Hold'em. Half the table minimum will be the bet of the player immediately to the left of the dealer. The next player to the left will then put in the full amount of the table minimum.
In Texas Hold'em these are called blind bets. This is due to the fact that these players don't really know what cards will turn up. Their job is to put in cash so that there is always something to play for.
The Rules state that each player in Texas Hold 'em poker is dealt with two face down cards. These are known as hole cards.
After the hole cards are dealt, the rules state that a round of betting in Texas Hold 'em poker will commence. The next player after the two who made the blind bets get to place the first bet. Players then make their game decisions.
The next stage of a game of Texas Hold'em poker is called the flop. The dealer discards the top card on the deck (i.e. burning the card; this is done to prevent any cheating).
The dealer then places three cards (the flop) on the table. Another round of betting is made in our game of Texas Hold'em
The next stage of Texas Hold'em is bringing up the Fourth Street or otherwise known as the Turn. The dealer (as in other rounds) will burn the top card. Another card is added to those already on the table. Then a new round of betting starts for this stage of the game.
The next card, the Fifth Street (or otherwise known as the River) is shown and placed on the table. Another card is burned in this stage of Texas Hold'em.
